Sneyd Academy is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Associate Teacher (Apprenticeship Route) to join our strong team of highly motivated professionals who work collaboratively to raise standards and expectations at all levels. The role of teaching support assistant helps to provide the very best outcomes for our pupils. If you are keen to help children to learn, have a love of learning yourself and have experience or wish to gain experience working with children with Special educational needs this role is for you. 


You will be placed on the Staffordshire/Coventry University Specialist Teaching Assistant Routes/Apprenticeship Course, which is fully funded by Alpha Academies Trust. During the programme you will complete a Level 5 Apprenticeship course and gain Qualified Teacher Status within four years. During this time, you will benefit from on-the-job teaching experience along with 20% of your working time to be dedicated to your own learning and development. There will be a permanent position available upon completion of the apprenticeship.


The ability to converse at ease with members of the public, including staff and students in accurate spoken English is essential for the post, therefore postholders must be able to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence through the medium of English.

Sneyd Academy is a large inclusive primary academy in the Burslem area of Stoke-on-Trent. It is one of the largest primary academies in the area and has pupils from nursery to year six. The academy dates back to 1901 and whilst it has many modern features, it retains a strong history and pupils benefit from a good Edwardian building. The academy has recently benefited from a significant investment in digital infrastructure. We are fortunate to have large areas of green space, and this has been complimented with the recent addition of an outdoor learning space.
